Effectiveness:  

Avira AntiVir Mobile offers effective antivirus protection. However, the software does not include any tools to reduce spam nor does it include any firewall settings. Furthermore, the system doesn’t work in real-time.

Features:  

Avira AntiVir Mobile will secure your phone from viruses attacking your mobile terminal, so not only are you protected, but you won’t send the viruses to others either. The software protects the internal memory of your phone, as well as any removable cards on the phone.

Ease of Use:  

AntiVir Mobile isn’t hard to use, but could be easier. You can perform on-demand scans, but not scheduled scans. When the software does detect a virus, you can choose what course of action to take, or set AntiVir Mobile to automatically take care of it.

Installation & Updates:  

AntiVir installation is easy by docking and syncing the mobile device to the host PC, or by transmitting the program over Bluetooth or GPRS. Updates can similarly occur wirelessly or from a host computer, but are not automatic. All updates must be performed manually. But in case an update isn’t able to load completely, the system will roll-back to the most recent previously working version.

Technical Help/Support:  

Avira’s software shouldn’t require a lot of additional help, but we found the support available to be pretty sparse. Avira does offer telephone support, but not for the United States. They do have an online FAQs section, but it is not specific to the mobile software.

Avira AntiVir Mobile will work to protect your phone from viruses and malware. The software is available to run on phones utilizing the Windows Mobile or Symbian OS, but the functions and features pale in comparison to our higher reviewed products.
